Raven British Shorthair Kittens Home strives to raise British Shorthair kittens in Australia that are happy, healthy, friendly, and well socialised. Our kittens are known for their calm, loving, and docile temperament, all raised in a nurturing home environment. The health of our kittens is imperative, with the best diet and veterinary care behind every litter. We breed for true-to-type British Shorthairs, drawing on carefully selected bloodlines to maintain the breed’s classic round face, dense plush coat, and gentle nature. All kittens are ready to go to their new homes from 12 weeks of age.

All kitten-haven breeding cats have been tested for and found to NOT have FELV or the FIV Viruses. Also, all our breeding cats are scanned for HCM and they are all clear.

- One of the world’s oldest cat breeds — British Shorthairs descend from domestic cats the Romans brought to Britain around 2,000 years ago, making them one of the oldest identifiable pedigree breeds available today.
- The Cheshire Cat connection — Many believe Lewis Carroll’s grinning Cheshire Cat was inspired by the breed’s naturally round face and permanent “smile.”
- Blue is the classic colour, but far from the only one — The “British Blue” is the most iconic variety, but the breed comes in over 100 colour and pattern combinations, including Lilac, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Golden, Bicolour, and Tortoiseshell British Shorthair kittens.
- Dense, plush “teddy bear” coat — Their short coat is famously thick and crisp, almost like plush velvet, rather than sleek like many other short-haired breeds.
- Round everything — A round face, round eyes, round paws, and a stocky round body are the defining hallmarks of the British Shorthair breed standard.
- Slow to mature — Kittens don’t reach full adult size and coat density until around 3–5 years old.
- Copper or gold eyes are prized — Especially striking against a blue-grey coat, though eye colour varies with coat colour.
